Clyde House (from Find The Treats)
Virtus Corporation dropped the application, Virtus Player,
which was needed to play this game. So we have had to cease offering the toy to our
fans. We offer this page for historical purposes only.
Clyde has a new home in a special place called Clydoverse, the Universe of
Clyde. He is being encouraged to explore his new environment by the powerful scent
of cat treats hidden throughout Clyde House. Since Clyde is hungry, he wants to find
all the treats and gobble them up. But, he is afraid to move from his hiding place
outside Clyde House. Clyde House looks big and scary, and Clyde can sense that the
neighbor, and his dog, are somewhere on the property. What is poor Clyde to do?
You are the Guiding Spirit of Clyde. You see the world from
his level (about 6 inches off the ground) and are invulnerable to everything
in this world. You are safe. So, Clyde has astral projected you into Clydoverse to
find the treats for him.
When you start the game, you (as Clyde Spirit) will be outside the house, in the garden. You will be facing a welcome sign that says:
Welcome to Clydoverse, the Universe of Clyde.
You have reached the outer limits and cannot go further.
Turn around and find Clyde House.
Enter through Clyde Door.
Now, as a spirit, you have some very special powers. You can walk through walls and objects, grow and shrink in size, and fly through the air. This can be fun. But, be careful. It can also be disorienting! For the best fun, try to move as Clyde would, and avoid the crashing through doors and walls trick. You have the unlimited powers of spirit, but use those powers wisely. (i.e. don't try to leave Clydoverse. You'll fly off into infinity and be lost forever.)
You must explore Clydeoverse, locate the neighbor and his dog, find Clyde Door
(where there's a sign showing you what the treats look like), enter Clyde House,
and find all the treats for Clyde (Hint: there are eight treats scattered throughout
Clyde House). You can't eat them, you can only find them.
There are some hints inside Clyde House to help you find the treats. What are they?
Well, consider this sentence:
A picture is worth a thousand words.
If you have explored the other sections of ClydeSight2.0!, you'll understand what this means. If not, you're on your own!
Use all of Virtus Player's navigation controls to explore Clydoverse.
Use Virtus Player's window controls for basic movement. If you've ever played
Marathon or Doom, you are already familiar with moving around in a 3-D
environment.
There are special key combinations you can use for more advanced navigation (i.e.
grow and shrink, look up, look down, tilt, and so on.) You'll find these described
in a HELP section that comes with the program. Look under the APPLE menu (Mac) or
the HELP Menu (Windows) for this section.
Viewing Tip: Look for WALK in the Virtus Player menu bar. Change the setting
to WIDE ANGLE.
CAUTION: A word about HOME.
Virtus Player uses the HOME icon to place you in the center of the world,
NOT at the starting point of the game. So, avoid using it. If you get stuck and want
to start over, start the movie, and then stop it as soon as it starts. This will
place you back at the Welcome sign.
----------------------------------
VR worlds can be difficult to navigate. To help you out, there is a special
introductory movie built into the game. This movie will show you how to explore the
outside of Clyde House. When the movie starts, it pauses for ten seconds at the Welcome
sign so you can read it. Just wait, and you'll see one of many paths you can take
to explore Clydoverse.
At the bottom of the Virtus Player window, on the left, are the three movie
player control buttons. The arrow button (>) starts the movie for you. Click on
it, sit back, and enjoy the movie.
